What is MyChart?

MyChart offers patients personalized and secure on-line access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health. With MyChart, you can use the Internet to:

  • Schedule and manage appointments.
  • View and Share your health summary from the MyChart electronic health record.
  • View test results.
  • Request prescription renewals.
  • Access trusted health information resources.
  • Communicate electronically and securely with your medical care team.
  • Manage payments and review account details online.

Is there a fee to use MyChart?

How do I sign up?

Patients who wish to participate will be issued a MyChart activation code during their clinic or hospital visit. This code will enable you to log in and create your own username and password. If you were not issued an activation code, you may call your Mount Sinai Medical Center Physician Practice provider’s office to request a code or click on the ‘SIGN UP NOW’, blue button on the login screen and fill out the request form. If you need personal assistance please contact the MyChart help desk at 305-674-2545 and then dial 2 for MyChart support, during the hours of 8am to 5pm.

Who do I contact if I have further questions?

When can I see my test results in MyChart?

Your test results are generally released within 1-3 days. Test results released to your MyChart account are limited to only those which originated from the hospital or a physician practice which are using the Epic electronic medical record system. Keep in mind, pathology results are released after 7 days.

Why are certain test results not shared electronically via MyChart?

Test results released to your MyChart account are limited to only those which originated from a physician practice or hospital encounter which is using the Epic electronic medical record system. Your provider is able to determine which types of test results are able to be accessed through MyChart. Furthermore, tests of a very sensitive nature are not released to MyChart. X-Rays and other diagnostic images are not available in MyChart at this time.

If some of my health information on MyChart is not correct, what should I do?

The information in your MyChart account comes directly from your electronic medical record at Mount Sinai Medical Center. If you would like to make corrections to information from the Hospital (Inpatient or Outpatient) or Emergency Department please contact the Privacy Officer at 305-674-2722. If you would like to make corrections to information from your Outpatient Physician's office please contact your Physician's office directly.

If I send a message to my doctor or nurse, when can I expect a reply?

You will generally receive an answer within 1-3 business days. Please note that MyChart should not be used for urgent situations. Please contact your medical center if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 911 if it is an emergency.

Can I make payments online using MyChart?

You can manage your account online by clicking in 'Billing' from your homepage. Next, click on 'Account Summary' where you will be able to review your amount due, view account details, review past statements and save your payment information for future use when making payments.

Can I schedule an appointment with a provider using MyChart?

You can schedule a New or Established patient visit with one of our Mount Sinai Medical Center Physician Practice providers. Simply click on 'Visits' and then, select Schedule an Appointment'. Here you will find all available options for scheduling and managing an office visit with a MyChart provider.

Do I need to review appointment details before my visit?

Now that you have scheduled an appointment be sure to click on 'Visits' and then, 'Appointments and Visits' to review upcoming appointments. Most visits will have the option to Echeck-In 3 days prior to your visit. This will allow you to confirm your personal details, enter a payment method to be used only when you come in on the day of your visit, review your medications/allergies, edit your medical history and answer you visit questionnaires all in one place. This will save time on the day of your appointment.

What is a Wait List offer?

For some of the Mount Sinai Medical Center Physician Practice offices we offer a feature that may help move your scheduled appointment to a sooner date based on availability. You may receive a message notification stating there is a new opening for an upcoming appointment at a sooner date and time. Please login to your MyChart within one hour of receiving this notification in order to review the offer details. Once logged in you will see the offer to the top of the homepage where you can now accept or deny the offer.

Do all Mount Sinai Medical Center providers use MyChart?

Only Mount Sinai Medical Center Physician Practice providers who use our EPIC electronic medical record software have access to the MyChart system. Feel free to ask your provider's office if whether or not they participate in the MyChart program.

Can I share the information in MyChart with an outside provider?

You can share the information in your MyChart record with any provider by clicking on the 'Health' icon and then, selecting the 'Share My Record' option. Here you will find the 'Give one-time access with Share Everywhere' option, which will allow you to enter your providers name and then create a 'Share Code' for use by your provider. Your provider will have a limited time to visit the website, www.shareeverywhere.com and enter the code on your screen. It is recommended you use this feature while you are with your provider.

Why am I being asked to link my accounts?

You may notice a prompt to the top of the screen after logging in, asking you to link your accounts. If you have another MyChart account at another organization that also uses the Epic electronic medical record system, you are given the opportunity to connect your multiple MyChart accounts. Once connected, you will be able to see your Mount Sinai chart information alongside your other account information. The information from an outside organization will be marked with an "e", serving as a flag for you to know these records come from an outside provider whom you are linked with through your MyChart account.

Does MyChart offer any preventative care options?

You can review you health reminders from your homepage under the 'To Do' section or by clicking on the 'Health' icon and then, selecting 'Preventative Care'. Here you can mark your Influenza (FLU) and/or Pneumococcal (Pneumonia) Vaccine as completed by hovering over the options and clicking on 'Mark As Complete', if you have done so outside of Mount Sinai Medical Center, such as at your local pharmacy.
You can also schedule a 2D or 3D Screening Mammogram by clicking on 'Visits' and then, select 'Schedule an Appointment'. One this page you will find the option to schedule a 2D or 3D screening mammogram.

Can I share my health record and/or view a family member's health record in MyChart?

Yes, you can. MyChart allows you to see and invite family members within your current MyChart account. You can manage Proxy Access by clicking on the 'Health' icon and then, click on the 'Share My Record' option. From there you can select the 'Friends and Family Access' to invite a loved one to access you medical record by sending them an emailed invitation. If your family member has an active MyChart account they will now be able to view your MyChart account through their own MyChart access. If your family member does not have an active MyChart, they will have to sign up and create a MyChart account using the 'Sign Up Now' option. If you’d like to request access to a family member’s MyChart account and need assistance, contact your Mount Sinai Medical Center physician’s practice or the Medical Records department at (305)-674-2325.

Can my spouse and I share one MyChart account?

No, due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must sign and submit a Release of Information request and establish their own MyChart account.

You may click the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to reset your password online. If you have further issues, contact our MyChart Support Staff at (305) 674-2545 during the hours of 8am to 5pm and listen for the MyChart prompt. Can you send me a new activation code as I have lost it, let it expire or did not receive it?

Where can I update my personal information (e.g., home address, e-mail or change my password)?

Log into MyChart and from the top menu, go to the 'Health' section and select 'Administrative Information' then, click on the Change Demographics or Change E-mail Address option.

How is MyChart secure?

We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Unlike conventional e-mail, all MyChart messaging is done while you are securely logged on to our website.

What is your Privacy Policy?

Mount Sinai Medical Center MyChart is fully compliant with federal and state laws pertaining to your privacy. Your name and email address will be treated with the same care and privacy given to your health records and will never be sold or leased by Mount Sinai Medical Center.

I was logged out of MyChart, what happened?

We aim to protect your privacy and security of your information. While logged into MyChart, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of MyChart. We recommend that you log out of your MyChart session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

What do I need to use MyChart?

You need access to a computer (PC, Mac, or WebTV) connected to the Internet and an up-to-date browser (Internet Explorer 5 ot later : Firefox 1.x or later, Safari 3 or later : Netscape 7 or later : AOL 3.0 or later : Opera 8 or later) Session Cookies enabled, Optional Features: Javascript enabled (highly Recommended), 128-bit SSL capability for secure messaging.

My activation code does not work, what should I do?

For your security, your activation code expires after 180 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. If you have further issues, contact our MyChart Support Staff at (305) 674-2545 during the hours of 8am to 5pm and listen for the MyChart prompt. After hours, send an e-mail to MyChartSupport@msmc.com and be sure to include your contact information.
